Idaho electricity customers to see 4 percent rate hikes this month

Customers of Idaho Power Company will see their electricity rates increase by 3.77 percent effective June 1 according to a report by KIFI/KIDK.

The higher rates are part of the company’s annual Power Cost Adjustment and Fixed Cost Adjustment.  The Idaho Public Utilities Commission said nether adjustment increases the company’s earnings, but go toward paying down power supply expenses that vary from year to year.

Boise doubles parking costs in downtown core

Two hours of parking in downtown Boise will cost you $2 today. Tomorrow it will cost you $4 thanks to Boise’s new tiered parking rate system that goes into effect on Wednesday.

KBOI is reporting that the city plans to add color-coded stickers to more than 1,300 meters in order to push drivers to use parking garages more often.

Those parking in the designated “Zone 1” or the orange zone, which is the area closest to the city’s popular downtown restaurants and bars, will soon be paying a $1.50 for the first hour then $2.50 for the second hour.

Florida School Officials have Lost Their Damned Minds

School district officials in Sarasota and Manatee counties have completely lost any sense of what they’re supposed to be doing.

There are areas of policy and practice in the education debates where reasonable people can reach different conclusions about what might be best. This is not one of those times. Some Florida school districts have simply and completely lost the thread.

The issue is simple.
