The War on the West may soon take an even uglier turn. According to a new report by the environmentalists and the academics they control, ending all fossil fuel leases on federal public lands could reduce global emissions of carbon dioxide by 100 million tons.
What would this mean? An unprecedented attack on the US energy market unlike anything we have seen in recent history. Around one quarter of all the fossil fuel energy in the US comes from federal lands, including 40 percent of coal.
Despite massive and ongoing fraud associated with the supposed “science” of climate data, the alarmists continue to insist that massive global efforts are required to keep warming below 2 degrees Celsius. What would this goal require according to the environmentalists and their academic allies?
The “studies” they are pushing now claim that the US must “cut aggregate fossil fuel production by 40–44 percent from current levels by 2040.” Their plan? Step one is to terminate the fossil fuel leases on federal public lands. Step two (and a big component of step one) is to—as Hillary Clinton recently said—”put a lot of coal miners out of business.”
Do these doomsayers care that their plans would drive energy prices through the roof? Perhaps that’s their whole intention… As Obama said in 2008, “Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”
